Chapter 21
Daeho was alone, checking emergency patients on his tablet.
From the other side, the awkward voice of Kang Jinsu, who was on day duty, reached him.
“Senior Seo, please don’t do this.”
“Let go, I have to say something!”
“It’s not the right time for that.”
“Let go!”
A sharp voice scolded Kang Jinsu.
Since the voice was close, Daeho slowly lifted his head.
Swipe.
“….”
A long-haired doctor, puffing her nose, was approaching.
Daeho’s gaze landed on her ID card.
Emergency Medicine, 3rd-year, Seo Juran.
Just then, he noticed her beauty.
Large eyes, fair skin, a delicate jawline. Her dimples on both cheeks were charming.
But now, her eyes narrowed, radiating strong irritation.
Snap!
Seo Juran stopped right in front of Daeho and said bluntly,
“Richard, look at me.”
“Freshmen sure are popular. Many want to see them, huh?”
“Stop talking nonsense. Follow me.”
Whip!
Seo Juran turned sharply and walked off somewhere.
Daeho looked at Kang Jinsu and asked,
“Why is she like that?”
“She’s usually not, but today during day duty, there were too many emergency patients. She got a bit sensitive.”
“It’s fine. I was bored anyway. Thanks for calling me.”
“But when Seo senior loses focus…”
Kang Jinsu hesitated, unsure how to explain.
Daeho seized the small opening and asked bluntly,
“Annoying, huh?”
“Yes… no. Not really.”
“We’ll see when we follow her.”
Pat.
Daeho lightly patted Kang Jinsu on the shoulder and strolled after her.
Emergency Medicine office.
Bang!
The door flung open, and Seo Juran entered, puffing.
“Ugh… huff, huff.”
Daeho followed calmly, smiling gently.
“So, what’s the matter?”
“Even though you’re senior, I have to say what I need to. Don’t you see everyone’s busy?”
“I see.”
Daeho replied calmly.
Seo Juran’s face turned bright red as she shouted,
“I SAW! But what were you doing all day?!”
“I was reading a magazine. It was quite informative.”
Daeho answered with innocent sincerity.
Seo Juran, frustrated, hit her chest.
Thump, thump!
“Ah, my chest… Jinsu, I think I’m dying.”
“Relax, Senior Seo. Calm down.”
“What? YOU calm me down?!”
Seo Juran snapped at Kang Jinsu.
Daeho smiled slightly and asked her,
“So, what is it that you want to say?”
He cut straight to the point.
Seo Juran flinched but quickly regained her stern expression.
Rattle.
“Excuse me.”
“Yes?”
“I wasn’t asking you to answer!”
“….”
Daeho stared quietly, and Seo Juran shook her head in frustration.
“Ahhh! Really!”
“So you were upset that I was sitting idle in the nurses’ station, right?”
Daeho summarized the issue perfectly.
Seo Juran’s eyes widened, speechless.
“Y-Yes.”
“You were questioning whether I had the qualifications to be a doctor while patients were waiting in pain.”
“Yes.”
She blinked, realizing there was a part she hadn’t seen.
Daeho didn’t bother arguing over small things.
Instead, he narrowed his eyes and asked,
“Then why didn’t you call me?”
“Pardon?”
“You could have just called me, right?”
Seo Juran’s eyes rolled in surprise.
“Well, that’s true, but…”
“Upset that I was idle, but didn’t call me, yet you say I was wrong. What kind of logic is that?”
“No, of course, if you’re on duty, you should… well…”
Seo Juran stumbled, unable to find an answer.
“….”
Daeho watched quietly, trying to suppress a smirk.
‘Clumsy.’
He instantly understood her personality.
It was a skill honed unconsciously from her environment growing up.
Seo Juran, feeling Daeho’s gaze, turned her head.
“Still, being wrong is being wrong.”
“You saw me in the nurses’ station, didn’t you? You must have seen clearly.”
“Is this a school? Do I have to explain everything?”
She continued questioning while turning her head.
Then, a drink appeared on the table.
It was Kang Jinsu’s sudden action.
Thump!
“Senior Seo, please stop. Richard’s situation right now…”
“Busted.”
Daeho’s comment interrupted Kang Jinsu, tangling his words further.
“I… well, you know, it’s not a situation to intervene…”
“Hey, Kang Jinsu.”
“Am I wrong?”
“I know, but… still…”
