Chapter 30
Everyone burst out laughing at his reaction.
“Pfft, hahaha!”
“Hohoho, Dr. Richard, you’re adorable.”
“That was way too much though. Puhuhu.”
“He’s just so random sometimes, seriously. Hehe.”
There wasn’t even a hint of distance or awkwardness in their teasing smiles.
It was the kind of bond that could only form after sharing drinks until your nose turned red.
Meanwhile, Daeho was still suffering from the emotional damage.
He pulled his lab coat up to cover half his face and muttered quietly.
Rustle.
“I’d like to be alone for a moment.”
That only made everyone laugh even harder.
“Puhahahaha!”
“Hahaha!”
And just like that, Daeho unintentionally became the reason everyone laughed together.
A little later—
Daeho’s face finally regained some color.
Even the last traces of his hangover had vanished.
“As expected, IdH really works—damn it.”
He clicked his tongue, still bitter about the misunderstanding.
He could still feel the sting of betrayal from thinking pear juice was a hangover cure.
But then—
A desperate voice came running from the other side of the ER.
“Dr. Richard! Help! Help!”
The moment he heard that, Daeho’s eyes instantly sharpened.
Fwish!
His brain began processing like lightning.
‘Currently, there are 38 ER patients. Among them…’
He recalled every patient’s name, age, symptoms, and treatment progress in seconds.
He even remembered which bed each one was lying in—perfectly matching the EMR without a single error.
All of that in just a few seconds.
By then, Lee Taekkyung had reached the nurses’ station.
“There’s—”
Before he could finish, Daeho spoke first.
“Patient Lee Heeyoung in Zone 3, hematemesis?”
Taekkyung’s eyes widened.
“H-how did you know!?”
“Peptic ulcer, I assume. So, how much blood loss?”
“S-she’s bleeding a lot, it won’t stop!”
Even as Taekkyung answered, he was still dumbfounded.
Daeho hadn’t moved an inch, yet somehow knew exactly what was happening.
It seemed impossible.
But Daeho’s expression didn’t waver.
“Who’s doing emergency treatment?”
“Dr. Park Jinkyu and Nurse Park Soohui! Dr. Park said it looks bad and told me to bring you right away!”
“Request emergency surgery. Call GS—right now!”
Tap-tap-tap!
As soon as he gave the order, Daeho shot out of the nurses’ station like lightning.
The ER was large, divided into different sections for patients with varying severity.
There were even separate rooms for procedures like endoscopy and angiography—so it was quite a maze.
And in that vast space, a single predator appeared.
Daeho.
He wasn’t just fast—he was ferocious.
Whoosh!
The wind trailed behind him as he sprinted down the corridor.
Moments later, he reached Zone 3.
‘Left side, third bed!’
He turned his head sharply—right on target.
There he found Park Jinkyu, Park Soohui, Nurse Lee Sooyeon, and Nurse Hwang Saemi, all gathered around a patient.
Their uniforms were splattered with blood.
The patient’s bed—and even the floor—was drenched in red.
“Ugh! Ughh!”
Drip, drip!
“Why isn’t the hemostatic working!?”
“She’s still bleeding!”
“Damn it, Richard!”
Jinkyu shouted desperately—
and at that exact moment, Daeho appeared, as if summoned.
“Phew. You’re too passionate about calling my name.”
“Do you not see this!?”
“Move.”
Whip.
Daeho pushed Jinkyu aside firmly and faced the patient.
“……”
His eyes moved quickly, absorbing every piece of information.
“Ugh… urgh…”
Blood kept pouring from the patient’s mouth.
But even as every second counted, Daeho didn’t move.
The others yelled out in frustration.
“What are you doing just standing there!?”
“Doctor, we need orders!”
They were seconds away from forcing him into action when—
Swish.
Daeho reached for the patient’s jaw and pulled it open.
Thunk!
“Ugh! Cough! Ghhk!”
The patient’s eyes widened in shock.
The medical staff were equally stunned.
“What are you doing!?”
“Doctor!”
Before they could finish shouting—
Whip!
Daeho extended his hand sideways and gave a calm, commanding order.
“Clamp. Five gauze pads. Rinse with saline.”
“Huh?”
“Hurry!”
Rumble!
His voice echoed through Zone 3 like thunder.
In that moment, everyone around him felt the same thing.
A mountain.
Not a metaphorical “broad shoulders” kind of mountain—
but an overwhelming, immovable presence.
Nurse Lee Sooyeon moved as if hypnotized, following his command.
