Chapter 192

The Game Difficulty

Is Insane

Orphan Kasim Brion fought and defeated a boy seven years older than him when he was five.

At ten, he took down the strongest boy in the village and his gang.

By the time he was fifteen, Kasim had defeated the men of the neighboring villages using only his fists.

By twenty, he even fought and defeated a high-ranking monster werewolf living in the Pantrakia Valley.

‘He should have been annoying to the eye.’

It wasn’t that he particularly liked fighting.

He simply beat down those who annoyed him one by one, and at some point, he found himself walking the path of a brawler.

Kasim Brion had no equal, and no being in his territory could block his path.

Then, the Demon Lord Diaro appeared before him, and his unusually gentle attitude rubbed Kasim the wrong way.

Eventually, Kasim Brion provoked the Demon Lord and challenged him, only to fall to the ground without even touching the lord’s clothes.

That first defeat gave Kasim, who had never feared anything, a sense of helplessness for the first time in his life.

‘That feeling back then was really awful.’

Seeing an opponent who didn’t even blink no matter how he raged,

Kasim grew furious, vowed to challenge the Demon Lord again, and volunteered for the Demon Lord’s army.

He got beaten a few times by the legion commanders later, but at least until he stood shoulder to shoulder with them, he never felt the same helplessness he felt back then.

‘But now…!’

With the Holy Power exploding before him, Kasim suddenly snapped back to his senses.

Sensing danger with animal instincts, he twisted his two Claws, swung them broadly, and created distance.

However…

“Where do you think you’re running?”

The opponent caught up lightly.

And very easily.

Chaeng—!

“Kuh!”

Biting his teeth, Kasim blocked the rushing sword with his crossed Claws.

The opponent’s gaze was sharp as if ready to strike, and anger simmered low.

Yet beneath that cold glare lay a distinct contempt, a sneering disdain that seemed to hang thickly.

The same look that the now-dead Diaro El Blanditear had once subtly given!

But even if he wanted to correct that pathetic look, he couldn’t.

Even if the number of seals was similar, in every other aspect, Kasim could not surpass him.

‘And I’m feeling that damn emotion here… from a mere human?’

Blocking and dodging the harsh yet perfectly composed sword strikes raining down on him, Kasim twisted his face.

“Damn… bastard…!”

Ka-ang!

Denying the déjà vu that kept rising in his mind, he pushed the opponent away.

He threw down the two Einheria and pulled out a sharp canine hidden in his chest.

It was his secret technique, prepared for a rematch with Diaro in the future.

He had thought he would never use it, since Diaro was already dead.

“Damn it all!”

Better to die than be humiliated by an unexpected being in an unexpected place.

Kasim reversed the canine and plunged it into his own heart.

“Krk!”

Thick blood ran from his mouth, and his vision turned red.

The Fang of the Mad Wolf King.

A treasure he had obtained years ago after defeating the leader of the werewolves in Pantrakia, it enhanced all his physical abilities beyond normal.

It would steal his reason in exchange for immense power, but he didn’t care.

If he could tear apart the disgusting human in front of him, losing his mind temporarily was a small price.

“Krrr…”

A beastly growl.

His waist bent like a bipedal predator, and his enlarged hands bore black, sharp claws instead of the Einheria he had thrown away.

Kasim looked more like a werewolf monster than a demon.

His mind had gone blank, replaced entirely by a white haze.

All he wanted now was to tear the only human in his sight apart!

“Krah!”

Leaving deep cracks in the ground, Kasim closed the distance at incredible speed.

The human seemed unable to react, just staring, while Kasim’s red eyes curved like a crescent.

Ka-aaang!

Yet his claws did not reach the human’s pale skin.

‘Using the Fang of the Mad Wolf King makes me fast and powerful… but…’

His claws had struck a huge shield.

Behind the split shield stood a pale skeleton, its owner looking at him as if he were trivial.

“Still… not possible for us.”

At the same time, something approached from behind.

“Krrraaah!”

Almost instinctively, Kasim turned and swung his claws.

The werewolf’s claw met a sword wrapped in Holy Power in a clash.

Ka-kang!

A skeleton knight also charged. And…

Puhuk—

“Kraaaah!”

Two attacked.

The sword from the second one pierced Kasim’s thigh.

Screaming, he violently swung his claws, tearing at the skeleton.

But at that moment, a black beam struck his shoulder from behind.

Kasim screamed and leapt backward to create distance.

“Krrrk… krrr…”

Attacks rained from all directions.

Still, his body, enhanced with werewolf regeneration, healed quickly.

At that moment, a boy slowly crawled in front of the shield.

‘So, the werewolf’s potential is good… its regeneration rivals most healing magic.’

He wanted to say something, but his reason was paralyzed.

All he could think was that the attacks hurt and he wanted to tear apart the annoying things in front of him.

Then the boy slowly smiled.

“Good timing. I don’t want to see you just die either.”

His mouth smiled, but his ash-gray eyes still held cold killing intent.

“You’d better steel your mind. I’ll make sure to torment you slowly until all my skills are finished.”

“Krrraaaah!”

Kasim slammed into the ground with a roar, but instinctively, he realized that the roar had come not from anger, but from fear.

Kasim Brion was strong.

True to his late eight-star rating and reputation as a natural fighter, he held his own against Glen’s party.

But holding his own meant that he endured Glen’s gray seals for nearly forty minutes while being completely mauled.

He had been slashed by skeletons in Ridenhall dozens of times, hit by Romina’s magic from kilometers away dozens of times, and kicked and slashed by Glen dozens of times.

“Krrhak… kheak!”

The blood he vomited alone would exceed a bushel.

His werewolf regeneration made death almost meaningless—it was like a curse.

Yet, paralyzed in reason, red-eyed, he staggered toward them like a laughing beast.

‘Who dared touch him?’

The sister who had always supported him, smiling brightly no matter what, had been touched.

Touching Tris was like waking Glen’s wrath.

“Get up.”

Glen still had no intention of letting him rest. He had to show what happens to those who harm his people.

“Krrrk… keh-ek…”

Thankfully, the enemy rose.

He raised his mangled fingers and showed hostility.

Even the werewolf’s near-supernatural regeneration was pushed to the limit and could no longer function.

Though the artifact had paralyzed his mind, somehow his survival instinct had also been paralyzed.

It was good that Kasim rose again, but at this state, he wouldn’t properly feel pain anymore.

“Hmm… That’s enough for now. Ridenhall.”

“Yes, brother.”

At Glen’s gesture, the skeleton knight approached Kasim and began binding him.

He flailed his arms in resistance but was caught anyway.

Of course, this did not mean Glen would give Kasim rest.

He had earned no leniency for touching Glen’s sister, not after mutilating flesh for so long.

Finishing the matter came first.

“Time to end the battle, isn’t it?”

Glen smiled faintly, scanning the battlefield.

“Waaah!”

“Gaaah!”

Those close to Glen saw Kasim’s defeat and fell silent, mouths agape.

Further away, knights and demons still fought under Holy Power fire, but there was no need for more meaningless combat.

“Flag.”

Glen muttered, and Ridenhall had the skeleton knight give him the Warsworth family flag.

It had fallen on the ground before, so it was covered in blood and mud, but Glen didn’t care.

He raised the flag high in front of Kasim and imbued his voice with Holy Power.

“Attention!”

His voice rang like a storm across the fortress of Ovenue.

Humans and even demons turned to look.

Silence fell.

But there was a difference between humans and demons.

Seeing werewolf Kasim kneeling before Glen, the demons’ pupils jittered nervously.

Meanwhile, Ovenue’s soldiers smiled as they looked at the Warsworth flag.

“Let’s rest now.”

Glen’s soft words broke the silence, and humans and demons shouted at the same time.

“Wow! Saint Glen is back! We’ve won!”

“Retreat! Everyone retreat!”

“Chase them!!”

The demons, seeing their commander defeated, fled in panic.

Humans cheered and pursued them.

In less than an hour after Glen arrived on the battlefield, the fight with the Demon Lord’s Fifth Legion was over.

“Good work, brother.”

“You too. And sorry. Was that hard to watch?”

Even though demons were humanity’s enemy, he was called a Saint.

He could have killed Kasim but didn’t, possibly feeling guilt for tormenting him.

“It’s fine, brother. That is also karma they will receive.”

Ridenhall’s quiet voice was tinged with bitterness, but he respected Glen’s choice.

“Still, sparing even one life is admirable, brother.”

He seemed to think Glen spared Kasim to give him a chance for reflection.

“Haha… well.”

Since Glen intended to torment him slowly before killing him, he answered vaguely and ended the conversation.

The battle was over, but there was much to do.

‘And my sister too…’

Glen glanced to see Tris standing there, bewildered.

“Are you okay, sister?”

“W-What…? You didn’t even say you were coming here.”

“Ah… well…”

Though they regularly corresponded, he hadn’t mentioned coming to Ovenue in recent letters.

“Surprise… Ah!”

“You really are!”

Tris smacked his back, laughing, but it didn’t hurt.

Her playful smack felt oddly comforting.

Tris looked most beautiful and charming when surprised like this.

Watching her welcoming smile, Glen smiled faintly in return.

“Why did you grow so tall…?”

They hadn’t seen each other for even a month, but Glen had grown about half a hand taller than before.

“Maybe because I ate well… Is that weird?”

“No. You look great. Responsible and growing up. Now I have to look up at you.”

“Of course. You’re a man, after all…”

Silence flowed, but it wasn’t unpleasant.

The two siblings simply enjoyed their reunion, looking at each other warmly.

Glen smiled faintly at Tris, who looked up at him with consistent warmth.

“I’m back, sister.”

“Yes. Welcome home.”

Tris embraced him tightly, her hands stroking his back.

“And thank you.”

“…I should be the one thanking you.”

After more than a month, Glen had been away, and Tris had successfully defended the land.

Finally, Glen returned home, having completed all preparations.

That same evening.

Tris’ voice rang loudly through Ovenue’s fortress during the victory celebration.

“How long has it been since you got back, and now you want to go somewhere again!!”
