Chapter 243
The longer Kacherto Rienz was left alone, the more impossible it was to know what he might do.
However, that was separate from his actual combat ability.
Either way, he's only an Eighth-Star.
Kacherto did have a trump card of his own.
But fundamentally, he disliked fighting on the front lines.
That was why he avoided exposing his location and usually moved secretly, informing only his closest subordinates about his plans.
Of course, even taking that into consideration, Glenn knew his way of thinking very well.
That was why he had infiltrated Angrelcher Castle.
But unfortunately, he wasn't there at the time.
I was wondering what I should do after that.
Destroying his magical laboratory and Angrelcher Castle had certainly been a great achievement.
However, Glenn could not predict what Kacherto, whom he had allowed to escape, might do in the future using his vast magical knowledge.
Just when Glenn had no choice but to leave him for later because he had failed to deal with him then, Penelope appeared before him and told him Kacherto's next destination.
Then things became simple.
There was no need to figure out what Kacherto Rienz was planning to do on the northern front.
All Glenn had to do was eliminate him quickly.
Glenn immediately gathered all of Obenue's forces and launched a surprise attack on the Fourth Legion's camp, where Kacherto was expected to be.
And the result was exactly what he had hoped for.
Just as Penelope had said, Kacherto Rienz had come to the northern front.
Glenn had taken a detour and launched a surprise attack, eventually coming face-to-face with him.
In truth, the ideal situation would have been for the Demon King's army to happily engage Obenue's forces as they recklessly charged in from the front, while Glenn attacked them from behind.
However, judging by the demon soldiers dismantling the camp, Kacherto had apparently sensed something strange and was trying to retreat.
If I hadn't hurried, I would've missed him again.
Of course, Glenn had considered such a possibility and formed the strongest possible strike team.
Romina, an Eighth-Star Witch who had obtained the former Demon King's secret art, Call of the Cold, and had become the strongest attacker after Glenn.
Penelope, another Eighth-Star Witch who served as a support mage, weakening enemies with various status-effect spells.
Saint Lucheria, a resurrection specialist who possessed overwhelming Holy Power and could not only unleash tremendous firepower but even revive dead allies when necessary.
And Glenn himself, who was becoming closer to a transcendent existence with each passing day.
With all four gathered in one place, they had become a powerful strike team.
If Saint Ridenhall, with his powerful Skeleton Knights to fill out the front line and his enchantment magic to strengthen allies, and Rowen, who would take the front position, were added to the group, the party would become complete.
Of course, even the current members alone possessed enough power to rival more than an entire legion.
Even if Kacherto had not fallen for the provocation from the front and had concentrated all his troops around his main force, they still would not have been able to compare with Glenn's party.
In other words, they simply don't have enough power to contend with us.
Indeed, the Demon King's army and the undead covering the ground below the hill had already suffered heavy damage from Penelope's area-wide magic.
And Kacherto Rienz, who should have been leading them against Glenn, had been pinned down from the beginning after Romina's enormous ice spike pierced his body.
There could not have been a better situation for Glenn.
And there could not have been a worse situation for Kacherto.
“C-Commander!”
The adjutant beside him hurriedly approached Kacherto.
“Commander!
Are you all right?!”
“…….”
“Commander…?”
Kacherto stretched out his hand and placed it against the approaching adjutant's chest.
Before the adjutant could say anything, purple demonic energy flowed into him.
“What… Ugh?!”
The next moment, the bewildered adjutant's body began to swell.
Then it twisted violently with a grotesque sound.
“Guh… Gyaaaaaaah!”
A scream filled with agony rang out.
Soon, mysterious purple tentacles burst through the adjutant's body and spread in every direction.
Flower of the Far Side.
A unique spell that used the target's power and life force as a medium to summon an otherworldly plant possessing power equal to that target.
Kacherto Rienz had cast that spell on his perfectly healthy subordinate.
“He's insane.”
“Why would he do something like that…?!”
“W-We knew he was cruel and ruthless from the beginning… but this seems to have gone too far.”
Romina frowned at the shocking scene.
Lucheria covered her mouth in surprise.
Penelope let out a disgusted groan.
The otherworldly plant born from the adjutant's body twisted its tentacle-like vines as it waited for its master's command.
Even if the power was the same, Kacherto had deliberately transformed his deputy commander into an otherworldly plant to obtain a subordinate that could feel no fear.
“…….”
Glenn stared at Kacherto.
Even with his body pierced by Romina's spike that had appeared beyond his perception, Kacherto had made the most rational choice available to him.
“Seriously… I'm getting sick of this guy.”
Shing-!
Glenn opened his inventory.
Then he firmly gripped his beloved Einheria and slowly stepped forward.
“Let's start the work.”
Judging from the situation, if they left Kacherto alone, he would turn every demon around him into an otherworldly plant.
Of course, even if he did that, the current balance would not be overturned.
But Glenn could not simply allow such an evil man to keep making schemes.
“We'll use the tactics I mentioned earlier.
I'm not taking any more questions.
Let's go.”
Glenn activated the Gray Ring.
Then he dyed all his Rings with the Holy Ring.
At the same time, he kicked off the ground and leaped down toward the hill.
Fwaaaaaang-!
Most of the demons and undead in the camp were still trapped in Penelope's Dystopia, panicking in terror.
Glenn ignored all of them.
His eyes were focused solely on his target.
Crack-!
Kwagagagak-!
Large cracks spread across the ground as sharp particles of Holy Power scattered like electricity.
Like lightning racing along the earth, Glenn left behind nothing but dense Holy Power in his path as he charged forward at an incredible speed.
“Kreweee… Huh?!”
Crack!
Ninth-Star Skill: Saint Castiel's Judgment.
The undead standing in his path crumbled simply because he passed by them.
Even the weaker demons trembling in fear were caught in the massive amount of Holy Power surrounding Glenn as he charged forward and were burned away.
But that was not the reason for his charge.
Glenn's gaze remained fixed solely on Kacherto at the end of his path.
“Kuh…!”
Kacherto was awkwardly retreating in the opposite direction from Glenn.
As he fled, he used Flower of the Far Side on every demon within reach.
However, he was too busy avoiding Romina's magic that came flying from beyond his perception to properly realize that Glenn was approaching him at an insane speed.
But Glenn did not stop.
He coated Einheria, already wrapped in Holy Power, with demonic energy and created Holy Demonic Power.
He wanted to keep Kacherto alive and make him suffer a slow and painful death.
But he had no intention of creating even the slightest possibility of an unexpected variable.
I have to kill him here.
Voooooong-!
Holy Power and demonic energy resonated together, creating Holy Demonic Power.
