The Game Difficulty
Is Crazy
Chapter 13
The same day, in the afternoon.
At the training grounds of Baron Pebien’s estate, a sparring match between Glen and the Canary Knights had been going on for two full hours.
Since, by a deal with Pebien, they had decided to bring the Canary Knights to Avenue, it was necessary to check their actual combat strength.
Of course, during that time, Glen had defeated no less than twenty Canary Knights without even breaking a sweat.
Chaeng!
A light, sharp sound rang out as two blades collided.
At the center of it stood Glen and the vice-captain of the Canary Knights, the Five-Star Holy Knight, Norman Rothmeyer.
After every member who was confident in their sword skills had lost to Glen, even Vice-Captain Norman had finally stepped forward.
The problem was that he was not much different from the other knights.
“Hup!”
Putting strength into his lower abdomen, Norman pressed Glen with a rapid chain of attacks.
Kaang! Chaeng!
But Glen easily blocked them and immediately counterattacked.
Norman clenched his teeth.
‘At just seventeen years old, he’s overwhelming me to this extent?!’
The number of Holy Rings Glen was using was only four, so in terms of raw power, Norman was stronger. However—
‘I’m losing in every other aspect!’
Norman’s pupils shook.
Even though five Holy Rings were reinforcing his body, he could not keep up with Glen at all in speed or technique.
All Norman could do was get dragged along by Glen’s offense and pray that one of his attacks would land a decisive hit.
‘This is already no different from a loss.’
That was the conclusion Norman reached in less than a minute after crossing swords.
The power of Glen’s sword alone was only at the Four-Star level, but its overall class far surpassed that.
‘It feels like I’m facing a Five-Star… no, even a Six-Star!’
He had thought something was strange when Glen single-handedly slaughtered the monsters in the Haven Mine, but he never imagined it would be to this degree.
Biting his lip in frustration, Norman felt that the real problem was this—
Even while holding complete control, Glen still looked relaxed.
Chaeng! Kang!
As sparks flew from the clashing swords, Norman’s face twisted even more.
At the same time, the expressions of the Canary Knights, who noticed the vice-captain’s visible agitation, grew serious as well.
Meanwhile, Glen, who was facing Norman, smoothly connected one sword strike to the next.
Even though he was using only four Holy Rings, his entire body felt light.
Was it thanks to the stat increases he had gained recently in the mine, or because the level of his swordsmanship had risen, opening a higher realm even without rings?
‘Either way, what does it matter.’
What mattered was that he could now handle the vice-captain of a knight order without much difficulty.
‘If I really push myself, I might be able to contend with Six-Stars even without the gray ring.’
In other words, while the gray ring was active, not only could he defeat a Six-Star, but he could even challenge those above that level.
Feeling his own unstoppable growth, the corners of his mouth naturally lifted.
The more that happened, the fiercer Glen’s sword strikes became as he pressured Norman.
Kkaaaang—!
“Keugh!”
Norman’s sword was knocked into the air.
Clutching his wrist, Norman finally dropped to one knee.
The tip of his opponent’s sword was pointed at him.
“I… I lose.”
“Good work, Sir Norman.”
Letting out a rough breath clouded from facing twenty Canary Knights in succession, Glen smiled gently with his eyes.
Soon, the Canary Knights who had been watching the duel with the vice-captain began to stir all at once.
“T-the vice-captain lost.”
“See… I told you. I said he really wiped out all the monsters in the mine by himself. You should’ve believed me.”
“He’s seventeen… right?”
They stared at Glen with eyes wide open.
It would have been nice if they cheered like the Gray Wolf Knights, but the Canary Knights were not as quick to grasp things as they were.
They were simply confused by a situation that completely overturned their common sense.
‘Still, not bad. If I take them to Avenue, they’ll be solid forces.’
Wiping the clear sweat from his forehead, Glen smiled.
Though they were far inferior to the Gray Wolf Knights, they were still a proper knight order.
Compared to ordinary soldiers conscripted from villages and cities, they were excellent combat personnel.
Clap clap clap clap!
From the center of the murmuring Canary Knights, a middle-aged man suddenly began to clap.
It was Trahamsen, the captain of the Canary Knights and the greatest knight in Haven—a Six-Star Holy Knight.
“That was a splendid sword, young master. With skills like that, I believe I can safely entrust the Canary Knights to you.”
“Thank you for the praise, Sir Trahamsen. If you don’t mind, how about letting me experience Haven’s greatest sword as well?”
“Hahaha. To receive the sword of a descendant of the Wordsworth bloodline—there could be no greater honor. However.”
A sharp glint passed through Trahamsen’s eyes.
“You’ve been fighting one match after another, so you must be tired. Wouldn’t it be better to postpone that bout for another time?”
“Hmm… Your words make sense. Since I’d be facing Haven’s greatest sword, it would be right for me to do so in my best condition as well.”
“I’m grateful for your understanding, young master.”
Placing a pot-lid-sized hand on his chest, Trahamsen bowed his head toward Glen.
“Then we’ll end the sparring here. Reinforcements to Avenue have been confirmed, so we must also select personnel and resume training.”
“Yes. I look forward to working with you, sir.”
Trahamsen and the Canary Knights saluted and left the training grounds.
Soon after, Romina approached Glen, who was left behind.
“Good work. You fought well.”
“I told you to use formal speech outside.”
“So what? There’s no one around.”
With her usual playful smile, Romina held out a cloth to wipe sweat.
“It’s fine. I’ll do it myself.”
“How can a noble young master be so completely un-noble?”
“I’m not lazy enough to be unable to wipe my own sweat.”
“Do you think nobles make servants do things because they’re lazy?”
