The Game Difficulty
Is Crazy
After sending the transport unit led by Derrick back to Avenue Fortress,
Glen returned to Febien’s mansion and was organizing his luggage.
‘After today, I probably won’t come back to Haven City again.’
Thinking back, quite a lot had happened during the four days he stayed in Haven.
To obtain the legendary artifact Einheria, he went to the Hall of Souls and even got into a chase with a Reaper.
He entered the forbidden zone of the Haven mines with the Canary Knight Order and slaughtered hundreds of monsters.
He tried to keep the Black Cult in check, a major trouble in the latter half of the scenario, and even ended up meeting and fighting a highest-ranking prophet.
‘Damn, it was insanely eventful. Would it really hurt if things went smoothly according to plan for once?’
Of course, because of that series of events, Glen had grown far more than before coming to Haven, and he had also obtained many items that would be useful in the upcoming war against the demon race.
On top of that, he even gained a rare stroke of fortune.
If he listed everything Glen gained during his four days in Haven, it would be like this:
『Romina, future candidate for Demon King』
『Legendary-grade weapon Einheria』
『Hero-grade weapon Impeus』
『Hero-grade material, Heart of the Queen of Proliferation』
『Rare-grade explosive, Dark Matter』
『A total of 8 stat points』
Looking at it like this, Haven almost seemed like a treasure warehouse.
‘Considering what I took, that’s not exactly wrong.’
Of course, everything listed above was limited to the things that brought direct benefits to Glen.
Aside from those, the benefits he gained by thoroughly emptying Baron Febien’s pockets, such as the Canary Knight Order, were also considerable.
Recalling how diligently he had moved around, Glen smiled faintly.
“You look happy?”
Romina, who was helping him organize his luggage, spoke up casually.
“Just thinking that I really ran around a lot when I look back on it.”
“Yeah. You were insanely diligent. You wake up at dawn and do sword training in the courtyard, and just when I think you might rest and talk for a bit, you say you have something else to do and run off again.”
Romina shook her head.
“If other human nobles saw that, they’d curse you for lacking dignity.”
“Let them.”
Shrugging his shoulders, Glen carefully sorted the items to put into his backpack and those to put into his inventory.
“But is it really that urgent? The war.”
“I told you before. The Wordsworth territory is going to turn into a sea of fire.”
If the opponent was the 8-star witch Penelope, half-hearted preparation would not even allow proper resistance.
Unless full war preparations were already complete, it was still uncertain whether the forces of Avenue Fortress alone could stop her army.
That was why Glen had to complete every possible preparation in the remaining time.
With serious eyes, he tied his backpack and stood up.
Suddenly, Romina muttered,
“I hope it’s wrong.”
“Wrong about what?”
“That god who only quietly tells you the future.”
“Ah.”
It seemed she was talking about how he had brushed off his knowledge of the future as a divine revelation before.
“It won’t be wrong. Unfortunately.”
“What a cruel god. Telling such an unhappy future to a believer who trusts him.”
“Tell me about it.”
Glen gave a bitter smile and walked up to Romina, holding out his hand.
“Give me some demonic energy.”
“Oh, sure.”
Mixing a nasal tone into her reply, Romina firmly grabbed Glen’s hand.
Her slender hands wrapped around his, and she began absorbing demonic energy.
“Mmm~ nice. Thanks every time.”
“Just make sure you grow well.”
“I’m already growing pretty well, you know? Don’t you think so?”
Even though she clearly knew they were talking about demonic energy, Romina answered mischievously.
Glen formed his fingers into a flicking position and aimed at her forehead.
“Stop making nonsense jokes.”
“I’m serious though. Look, I’m pretty tall, and if you look here— ow!”
She really was asking for it.
“Hit a little lighter. That really hurts.”
“I hit you because it hurts. That’s what you get for saying stupid things…”
At that moment, along with a clear notification sound, a system message appeared in Glen’s vision.
《Demonic Energy increases by 3.》
“…Huh?”
“What’s wrong?”
Confusion appeared in Glen’s eyes.
Out of nowhere, his demonic energy stat had increased by a full 3.
In truth, it wasn’t completely out of nowhere.
In Gray Eden, where effort and reward were emphasized, there weren’t many things you could gain for free.
‘If there’s a result, there’s always a cause.’
The cause of the increase in demonic energy had to be Romina.
In the world of Gray Eden, to raise a stat, you needed to perform actions related to that stat.
If you ran until you were out of breath, your stamina stat increased.
If you continuously dodged incoming attacks, your agility stat increased.
And naturally, if you used holy power, your holy power increased, and if you used demonic energy, your demonic energy increased.
What was important here was that Glen’s demonic energy stat had increased simply by supplying demonic energy to Romina for several days.
In other words, it seemed that even if Romina merely absorbed Glen’s demonic energy, it was counted as using demonic energy.
Which meant—
‘This is insanely good!’
Glen’s face brightened.
He had already been thinking about raising his demonic energy since his holy power stat had grown too high and his growth had slowed.
But there had been no way to raise demonic energy here, which had been a problem.
Yet thanks to obtaining a stroke of fortune called Romina, he could now continuously grow his demonic energy like this.
‘On top of that, my demonic energy just went up by 3, so it’s now 25.’
The conditions to weave the second ring of demonic power were now met.
Of course, since Glen’s heart already had four rings of holy power, there would be no real need to use two demonic rings.
‘But what if I use the Gray Ring?’
He would be able to use a total of six rings as either holy or demonic attributes.
That meant he was now at a level where he could truly clash with a 7-star opponent.
‘Even if it’s only for six minutes, that’s still something.’
Glen’s face lit up.
Thanks to that, his steps leaving Haven also felt much lighter.
“But why are we going this way?”
Romina asked suddenly as she passed through the checkpoint beside Glen.
“Huh? Why?”
“If you’re going to Avenue, don’t you need to go northwest from here?”
“Normally, yeah.”
But the checkpoint Glen and Romina passed through was to the east.
“Are we stopping by somewhere?”
“Yeah. I’m going to stop by a nearby village.”
“A village…? Is that okay? You said the demon race will invade soon.”
“It’s fine. A round trip will take two days.”
“…What’s there?”
Glen smiled meaningfully.
“A party dungeon.”
After Glen Wordsworth left,
life finally returned to Febien’s face, which had looked like that of a walking corpse.
Febien wiggled his plump body and ran around the mansion’s reception room.
