Chapter 95

The Game Difficulty

Is Insane

Chapter 18

After wrapping up the conversation with Triss, Glenn headed straight for the reception room.

Inquisitors, huh…

For now, he was satisfied.

Why was he satisfied without even seeing them?

Because ten of them came.

Color returned to Glenn’s face.

Ordinarily, Inquisitors operate in teams of five.

So the fact that ten Inquisitors had arrived at the mansion meant one thing—
 Two High Inquisitors had come.

Normally, to become a High Inquisitor, you need to be at least a 7-star priest.

Which meant that both Inquisitors who would accompany Glenn to Ovenue were at least powerful 7-star existences.

Hm hm! That’s an excellent force to have!

With an excited heart, Glenn opened the door to the reception room and stepped inside.

And the moment he saw a familiar young man inside, standing there with arms wide open to welcome him, he couldn’t hide his shock.

“May the grace of God fill this morning!”

A handsome young man with short-cut platinum blond hair and striking, swirling red eyes.

“Bishop Yudit Rossfelt?!”

“Yes, it is I, brother. Have you been well all this time?”

The man smiled gently.

Immediately, the excitement in Glenn’s eyes began to shake violently.

Why are YOU here?

Yudit Rossfelt.

An Inquisitor who had once come to arrest Glenn due to Edgar’s accusation.

And the very person who, after witnessing the miracle Glenn staged, became his fervent supporter and even gave him an Inquisitor’s rosary.

But Glenn had never even imagined that the very person who gave him that rosary would show up here in person.

In terms of ability alone, this is like hitting the jackpot…

Even so, Yudit was a burdensome person in many ways.

Because after that incident, Yudit believed Glenn to be a Saint and tried to show him excessive affection.

—Ah, Saint…! How can your faith be so profound?!

—I would have no greater wish than to speak more with you about faith!

—Ah, ah…! What have I done! To dare touch the Saint’s hand with my own! Forgive me! For this sin, I shall—!

“…Ugh.”

Suddenly recalling those unpleasant memories sent chills all over Glenn’s body.

“I am truly delighted to see you again. I have waited and waited for this day to come.”

As expected, Yudit was striding toward Glenn, clearly intent on updating his bad memories.

“Haha… I’m glad to see you too.”

“Ah, Saint— no, brother! To hear that you feel the same way fills me with indescribable emotion! So then—”

Just as Yudit, wearing an expression of bliss, reached out to grab Glenn’s hand—

A long, pale hand suddenly appeared, grabbed Yudit’s face, and shoved him backward.

“Huugh!”

“Move aside. I can’t talk like this.”

Pushing Yudit away, a sharp-eyed black-haired beauty stepped forward and faced Glenn.

“Nice to meet you, Glenn Wordsworth. I’m Bishop Katrin Raspechia, a High Inquisitor of the Inquisition. We came here after receiving the summons you sent up.”

With her blunt introduction, the tall priestess slightly tilted her head to meet Glenn’s eye level.

“Let’s make this quick. We came all the way here overnight.”

Silence fell.

Yudit, and now Katrin too…

As she introduced herself, Katrin Raspechia was indeed a High Inquisitor of the Inquisition, and as seen, she had a very straightforward personality.

Because of her rough manner of speech and easygoing nature, she was known in the Gray Eden community by the nickname Brother Katrin.

Glenn let out a silent laugh.

What kind of combination is this, seriously.

Yudit and Katrin.

How did two of the most eccentric High Inquisitors in the Inquisition end up together like this?

Regardless of everything else, both Yudit and Katrin were unquestionably capable.

Yudit, in particular, ranked high even among the High Inquisitors of the Inquisition.

Considering that those ranked above him were all 8-star, it was easy to gauge Yudit’s level.

Though he had the flaw of abandoning all planning and acting solely on his fanatic beliefs in battle, he was undeniably the most powerful 7-star holy knight in the Inquisition.

And when it came to ability, Katrin did not lose to Yudit either.

Since joining the Inquisition, she had never lost to any of her peers except Yudit.

Thus, she held the second rank, right behind him.

Being able to take both Yudit and Katrin as reinforcements was nothing short of incredible luck.

If they joined Ovenue, along with Jaber, that would make a total of three 7-star holy knights in their forces.

With that much strength, they could definitely hold off Penelope’s army until reinforcements arrived.

Of course, that’s only if I can persuade them.

The Inquisitor’s rosary was merely a tool to urgently summon nearby Inquisitors.

Turning them into his reinforcements and taking them all the way to Ovenue Fortress depended entirely on Glenn’s ability.

But Glenn had his reasons for being so confident.

His mind held detailed information on every High Inquisitor in the Inquisition.

From individual abilities to personal tendencies—he knew it all, and thus knew exactly how to deal with them.

And one of them is Yudit Rossfelt, no less.

If it was Yudit, who held extreme goodwill toward Glenn, all Glenn had to say was that it was God’s will, and Yudit would readily lend a hand.

So I just need to persuade Katrin.

Looking at Katrin sitting across from him, Glenn finished calculating in his head.

Still… this two-shot combo is really something…

No matter how many times he looked, it was a strange pairing.

“I’ve been eagerly awaiting the day I could see you again, Brother Glenn.”

Yudit looked at him with shining eyes full of excitement, while Katrin leaned back against the sofa, legs crossed, arms draped casually over the backrest.

Even just sitting still, the contrast between them was extreme.

Of course, the more peculiar someone was, the clearer their likes and dislikes were—and the easier they were to persuade.

“So. What’s the reason you called us all the way here, even using the rosary you got from Yudit?”

Katrin spoke first.

It was typical of her—she hated dragging things out.

So Glenn got straight to the point.

“I wish to ask both of you to become our reinforcements.”

“What? Reinforcements?”

Glenn nodded.

“Yes. Earlier than expected, the demon race’s army crossed the border and is attacking Ovenue. We’re holding out, but it was such a sudden assault that we’re struggling.”

“So you want the two of us to join the front lines as support?”

“Yes.”

“I’ll help as much as you want, Brother!”

Yudit cut in, eyes sparkling.

Then Katrin shoved him back down onto the sofa with a hand.

A sharp light shone in Katrin’s blue eyes.

“I’ll politely refuse.”

“May I ask why?”

“War isn’t our mission.”

It was a simple, clear rejection.

As she said, the Inquisition existed to search for, identify, and judge enemies within the Papal State.

No matter how strong they were, they were not the kind to readily step outside their assigned duties.

“Don’t take it the wrong way. We have our circumstances. We’re always busy with our own work, and by internal regulations, we can’t help a specific noble family.”

As she said, the Inquisition had to remain strictly neutral.

If they moved for a particular family, it could easily turn into a political issue.

“So I hope you understand. It’s a pretty sensitive matter.”

It was a perfectly reasonable refusal.

But this much was already within Glenn’s expectations.

“Then, Bishop Katrin. How about this?”

Katrin frowned.

“Didn’t I just refuse?”

“Still, sister. Since he even used the rosary to summon us, we should at least hear him out to the end.”

Yudit spoke gently but firmly.

Katrin stared at him for a moment, then brushed back her black hair and leaned into the sofa.

“…Go on.”

“I fully understand the Inquisition’s position you mentioned. Regardless of true intent, I agree that it could be politically abused.”

At that moment, a calculating light passed through Glenn’s eyes.

“Then, would you be willing to temporarily set aside your title as Inquisitors and help us in secret?”

“…So what, you want me to take leave and use my personal time to help you?”

“That way, wouldn’t political issues be avoided?”

What Glenn needed wasn’t the authority of the Inquisition, but Yudit and Katrin as powerful combatants.

No matter how famous an Inquisitor was, once they removed their armor and banners, no one would recognize them.

Of course, to make this simple yet bold proposal work, one more condition had to be met.

“And why would I do that? Why bother?”

That question needed an answer.

But Glenn already had everything planned out in his head like a complete script.

“Ah, of course, I’m not asking for your help out of pure goodwill.”

“Then you’re proposing a deal?”

“Yes.”

Katrin’s eyebrow twitched, then she burst out laughing.

“This kid’s funny. I should’ve known something was up when Yudit showed you respect.”

She leaned forward.

“So then, what exactly does our pretty young master plan to offer in exchange for my very expensive time?”

“All I can offer you is information.”

“Information?”

“Yes. For example…”

Glenn’s eyes narrowed.

“Information about a certain boy you’re looking for.”

“!”

A heavy killing intent surged.

In the next moment—

The sharp tip of a blade was pressed right in front of Glenn’s calm face.

Katrin’s blue eyes, gripping her sword, were filled with icy killing intent.

“What are you?”

“Katrin.”

A hand landed on Katrin’s shoulder.

Yudit’s blood-red eyes were now burning with anger.

“Please refrain from further blasphemy toward the Saint.”

“What? Saint?”

Katrin stared at Glenn in shock, but Glenn merely lifted his teacup calmly.

“What the hell are you talking about? Explain properly.”

“Katrin, this person is a noble Saint, born with the authority of the Hand of God, blessed by divine companionship.”

“The Hand of God…? Are you out of your mind?”

Confusion deepened in Katrin’s eyes.

Yudit continued.

“I personally witnessed the miracles he performed. He hears God’s voice and can perceive all things in the world at a glance.”

Those fanatic red eyes looked as though they would swallow Katrin whole.

“Stop spouting crazy nonsense, Yudit! Only His Holiness the Pope and the Saintess receive the Hand of God in this world.”

Katrin’s gaze returned to Glenn.

“You… How do you know about Kyle? Answer carefully. Depending on your reply, you could become the criminal who kidnapped that child.”

“I merely convey what God whispers into my ear.”

Smiling gently, Glenn placed his teacup back on the table.

“Whether you believe me or not is entirely up to you, Bishop Katrin. But I will say this much.”

A serious light shone in his ash-gray eyes.

“The only person who can return that boy to your arms is me.”

Their gazes locked.

Katrin bit her lip.

The deeper the confusion on her face grew, the more Glenn sensed victory.

Katrin—welcome aboard.
