Chapter 3

Chapter 3

“Boss, we caught another piglet...”

“Great. Let’s give him an electric baton combo first...”

“Aaaahhh!”

Xia Mingyu suddenly jolted awake on the bed.

Still shaken, he looked around the wooden cabin he was currently in.

He had just had a terrifying nightmare.

“****”

At that moment, a gentle female voice sounded beside his ear.

Although it was still a language he could not understand, her voice was as soft as a clear mountain spring flowing through his heart, gradually calming Xia Mingyu down.

He turned toward the voice.

A blonde girl wearing a belted tunic was looking at him with concern.

Her clothes were nothing more than rough, light-brown linen. They were extremely plain, yet they could not hide her beautiful and graceful appearance.

Her face was as pure and flawless as a lily blooming in the early morning. Her nose was slightly raised, while her skin was smooth and pale like white porcelain.

Her brilliant golden hair flowed down like a waterfall. Every strand was soft and glossy, almost like carefully woven golden silk, warm and dazzling.

Beneath her long eyelashes was a pair of captivating deep-blue eyes.

They were clear yet profound, like two peaceful bays that seemed capable of drawing a person’s soul inside.

Even though she was wearing nothing but worn-out linen clothes, she still possessed an extraordinary beauty.

She did not lose out at all to those legendary beauties who became famous throughout an entire era.

As expected...

When it came to fashion, the final deciding factor was still the face!

Xia Mingyu sighed inwardly while quickly looking around.

A simple cabin made from logs.

A stunning beauty wearing linen clothes.

A completely unknown language that he could not understand...

When all of these things were put together, something was obviously very wrong!

The last thing he remembered was collapsing in front of the bow-wielding young man who had shot and killed the alpha wolf.

Could it be...

Had he somehow been taken onto an enormous reality show?

“****”

Seeing that he had calmed down, the girl brought over a bowl of water and carefully handed it to him.

“Thank you.”

Xia Mingyu was already terribly thirsty, so he did not think too much about it.

He accepted the wooden bowl and drank everything in one go.

The cool water moistened his dry lips and flowed down his throat.

It felt as though new strength immediately spread through his weakened body.

Seeing this, Xia Mingyu lifted the blanket.

Ignoring the blonde girl’s attempts to stop him, he stepped onto the floor barefoot and walked straight outside.

He had to see for himself exactly what kind of strange place he had ended up in!

The moment he left the wooden cabin, the first thing that entered his sight was a winding dirt path.

On both sides of the path stood houses built from logs and straw.

Thick layers of green moss covered their roofs, making it obvious that these houses had been standing there for a very long time.

Not far from the path was a wide open space.

An enormous old oak tree stood there, its branches covered with lush green leaves. Its trunk was so thick that it would probably take three or four people holding hands to completely surround it.

Several people wearing similar linen clothes were gathered along the path and beneath the shade of the old oak tree.

They stood in small groups, talking to one another.

Some carried farming tools that resembled hoes.

Some carried baskets filled with fruit on their backs.

Others were carrying wooden bathing tubs.

But there was something else.

Above every one of their heads...

There was a line of text.

“Th-This... This...”

Xia Mingyu stared blankly at the scene before him.

His eyes widened and his mouth hung slightly open.

The shock on his face could not be hidden.

At this moment, he could finally be certain.

This definitely was not some reality-show prank.

He was just an ordinary nobody.

There was no way anyone would spend such an enormous amount of money building a place like this and hiring so many actors just to fool him.

He had really arrived somewhere completely new.

A place with an unknown language.

A place that might not even exist on Blue Star.

“*****”

Before long, the people dressed in linen noticed him.

The moment they saw the words floating above Xia Mingyu’s head, every single one of them showed the same expression.

Shock.

Fear.

And disbelief.

The first person suddenly dropped to one knee.

Then, like falling dominoes, everyone else followed.

One after another, they knelt on one knee.

The blonde girl who had followed Xia Mingyu outside also saw what was happening.

She immediately copied the others and knelt down.

However, she was extremely close to Xia Mingyu.

The tips of her bright golden hair were even blown by the wind and brushed lightly against his ankle.

Xia Mingyu’s mind was filled with questions.

He immediately asked three of them in one breath.

“Why are you kneeling?”

“Can you see the words above my head?”

“What exactly do those words mean?”

He had noticed something.

Whether it was these people or the bow-wielding young man who had rescued him earlier, they only started acting strangely after looking at the words above his head.

...

Time slowly passed.

Several minutes went by.

Yet no one answered him.

They simply lowered their heads deeply while kneeling on the dirt.

But that was understandable.

After all, Xia Mingyu was speaking Chinese.

These people clearly could not understand him.

So the next problem he needed to solve was...

How was he supposed to make them stand up?

Xia Mingyu hesitated for a moment before tentatively speaking.

“My beloved subjects... you may rise?”

The instant the words left his mouth, even Xia Mingyu himself nearly lost control of his expression.

Without realizing it, he had spoken exactly like the protagonist of some popular romance novel.

Unfortunately...

There was still no reaction.

Xia Mingyu rubbed his forehead helplessly.

He began wondering whether he should simply turn around and return to the wooden cabin.

If these people saw him leave, they would probably stand up again on their own.

Rustle...

Just then, Xia Mingyu felt someone gently tug at his trouser leg.

He lowered his head.

It was the blonde girl who had given him water earlier.

Still kneeling, she secretly raised her head and looked at him with those beautiful deep-blue eyes.

Her cherry-pink lips slowly moved as she silently mouthed several words to him.

“Wuerkala...”

Xia Mingyu seemed to understand what she wanted him to do.

He carefully copied the movement of her lips and tried pronouncing the words.

“Wuerkala...”

The next moment, everyone kneeling on the ground immediately stood up.

However, they did not straighten their backs.

Instead, they remained respectfully bent over while taking several steps backward.

Only after putting some distance between themselves and Xia Mingyu did they finally turn around and quickly leave.

Once everyone except the blonde girl had disappeared, Xia Mingyu let out a long sigh of relief.

As someone who had grown up in modern society, having so many people surrounding him and kneeling like that was honestly rather stressful.

“Thank you...”

Xia Mingyu began thanking the blonde girl, but stopped halfway through.

After all, they could not understand each other’s languages.

However, the girl seemed to understand what he meant.

With a slightly nervous expression, she gently waved her slender hand.

Her hand was beautifully shaped, but there were several obvious calluses across her palm.

It seemed that the girl had done quite a bit of physical labor before.

Tap, tap, tap.

At that moment, a middle-aged man dressed in a sheepskin robe hurried over from the distance.

In his hand was a large, plump gray rabbit.

His sheepskin robe looked somewhat old, but it was clean and neatly maintained.

The edges of the robe had been carefully stitched together with rough hemp rope.

His weathered face looked much the same—worn by years of hardship.

The moment Xia Mingyu looked toward him, the man’s face immediately filled with flattery and deep reverence.

Without the slightest hesitation, he dropped onto both knees.

Then he lowered his head...

As though he intended to kiss Xia Mingyu’s bare feet.

Hiss!

A wave of goosebumps immediately ran across Xia Mingyu’s body.

He hurriedly shouted,

“Wuerkala!”
