▶ Chapter 7. World Rank No. 1 (3)
Han Junggeun spoke to his older brother, Han Yonghwan, the guild master of Wish Guild.
“Because I wanted to leave a good impression. You want to recruit them, after all.”
Han Yonghwan nodded.
“They were slowly moving farther away from us. It looked like they were trying to escape, so I thought it would be better not to act like we recognized them there. We couldn’t have caught them anyway.”
This was a Hunter who had broken through the sealing skill of an SSS-rank Hunter and dealt with a Grade 9 Break in less than five minutes.
Even if every Hunter in South Korea were mobilized, they probably wouldn’t be able to capture that Hunter.
“The Grade 9 Gate in Olympic Park was sealed, but it was definitely still one of the potential dangers.”
For the past fifteen years, Raimund Wiegmann’s seal had never been broken even once.
But there was always that one-in-a-million possibility.
“Judging from the fact that they cleaned up the Break, they don’t seem to be a villain. They seem to have a decent personality. But we can’t be one hundred percent certain.”
Han Yonghwan, the eldest of the three SS-rank brothers, was an extremely cautious man.
He had also met countless kinds of people over the years.
Naturally, he couldn’t simply trust someone whose face he had never even seen.
“That’s true, hyung. We can’t be certain. But the ranking chart will be updated soon, so maybe we’ll at least learn a little about what kind of person they are?”
“Yeah. Probably.”
Hunters usually used their real names as the nicknames that appeared on the ranking chart.
That tradition began during the early days of the Gate Era.
Back then, some Hunters had casually used the same ridiculous nicknames they used in games, such as ‘FlamingCharcoalBachelor,’ ‘KingSundaerella,’ ‘BokgilILoveYou,’ or ‘DisbandTheTeamThatHasntWonIn30Years.’
Those Hunters became laughingstocks across the entire country.
No, across the entire world.
There was also the simple fact that using one’s real name was better for enjoying fame.
“Though I think they’ll probably use an alias instead of their real name.”
Han Junggeun nodded in agreement with his brother.
Just then, there was a knock at the door.
The youngest of the three brothers, Han Dongju, entered.
Han Dongju was still angry that his brothers had left him behind and gone to Olympic Park prepared to die.
I understand it logically, but…
He was the youngest of them.
And…
If we ever find our youngest sibling, at least one of us needs to be there to take care of them…
Even so, that didn’t mean he wasn’t pissed off.
His anger still hadn’t completely faded, but as one of Wish Guild’s vice guild masters, he had to be here.
The ranking chart would change soon, and they needed to check it and hold a meeting afterward.
[Notification: It is Monday, March 25, 20XX, 7:00 a.m. Korean Standard Time.]
[The Hunter Ranking Chart will now be updated and announced.]
[Hunter rankings are determined according to each Hunter’s contribution to world peace, as calculated by the System.]
The System’s messages appeared in each person’s native language.
Naturally, the letters floating before Han Dongju’s eyes were Korean.
[Hunter ‘Han Dongju’
Contribution to World Peace: 33 points
South Korean Ranking: 3rd (↓1) / World Ranking: 21st (↓1)]
Today, Han Dongju had absolutely no interest in his own ranking.
His brothers, Han Yonghwan and Han Junggeun, were the same.
The three brothers focused entirely on the text that appeared beneath it.
[List of Hunters ranked 1st through 100th in South Korea.]
[List of Hunters ranked 1st through 100th worldwide.]
Han Dongju scanned the South Korean Top 100 from the bottom upward.
Then he frowned.
“Why can’t I see them?”
“You started from the bottom, didn’t you? Look at the top. Both Korea and the world rankings.”
Han Dongju did as his eldest brother, Han Yonghwan, told him.
And then he found it.
The nickname of the Hunter who had suddenly entered at number one in both the South Korean rankings and the worldwide rankings.
“NotAHunter…?”
I’m so damn tired.
And yet I woke up at exactly six in the morning.
It was the natural behavior of someone who had spent three years living as a corporate slave.
Time to get ready for work—wait, no. I took a day off today, didn’t I? Let’s sleep more.
I did my absolute best to fall asleep again.
When I finally woke up, it was already one in the afternoon.
The rankings must have been announced by now…
Things were probably far noisier than I could even imagine.
I couldn’t be bothered to check.
Instead, I read the reward messages I had pushed aside earlier.
[Reward: Item for hiding your true strength and identity (Bound), Random Draw Box (Grade 10) ×10, Pet Exchange Ticket (Bound) ×1
The rewards will automatically be placed in your Inventory.]
The first thing that caught my eye was the item for hiding my true strength and identity.
The next was the Random Draw Boxes.
“GRADE 10 BOXES!!! HOW MUCH ARE THESE EVEN WORTH?! This is amazing! …Wait. If they’re Grade 10, I can’t sell them even if I hide my identity, can I?”
A Grade 10 box had never appeared even once in recorded history.
Unless the buyer was an idiot, they would immediately figure out that I was ‘NotAHunter.’
Ugh…
It felt like my luxurious retirement had just moved a little farther away.
That put me in a bad mood.
Grumbling, I took out the other reward.
“Why did I get a Pet Exchange Ticket?”
Items that appeared as paper could be activated by putting a small amount of mana or divine power into them.
I released just a tiny bit of mana.
The exchange ticket in my hand began to glow.
Pop!
It suddenly transformed into something else.
A baby duck smaller than my palm.
Its feathers were as white as snow.
Its tiny, adorable beak was bright yellow, while its huge round eyes looked like little Go stones.
