▶ Chapter 9. HunterNotDoing Hunter (2)
Han Yonghwan continued explaining the results of his analysis.
“That studio apartment complex is old and extremely run-down, so the rent and property prices there are very low. Judging from that environment and those sneakers, HunterNotDoing Hunter is probably not in a good financial situation. That’s likely why HunterNotDoing took care of the Rank 9 Break, and they’ll probably want to sell the monster materials and mana stones they obtained.”
The employees were impressed by Han Yonghwan’s sharp insight, as always.
“The reason I’m telling all of you this is because there’s a high possibility HunterNotDoing Hunter will visit our guild to anonymously sell those monster materials and mana stones.”
“Isn’t anonymous selling impossible for anything other than boxes?”
One of the employees asked.
“That’s normally true. However, the government has decided to make an exception for HunterNotDoing Hunter. They’ll make an official announcement soon.”
“The government actually made a decision like that?”
“Yes. Their official reason is that they want to encourage HunterNotDoing Hunter to remain active. That would make the public safer.”
“What’s the real reason?”
Another employee asked.
“They believe HunterNotDoing Hunter’s activities could help raise their low approval ratings. They also think that if HunterNotDoing Hunter becomes more active, they may eventually discover their identity and somehow put a leash on them.”
Everyone in the conference room burst into mocking laughter.
Of course, none of them knew what kind of person HunterNotDoing was or what sort of personality they had.
However, judging from the overwhelming strength that had allowed HunterNotDoing to resolve a Rank 9 Break in only a few minutes, they were clearly not someone who could ever be put on a leash.
If someone carelessly provoked HunterNotDoing, everyone entertaining such thoughts about leashes might lose their lives in an instant.
Everyone attending the meeting understood that perfectly.
“Most people in the Hunter Association don’t think that way.”
In other words, the problem was the newly appointed Association President, who had been parachuted into the position through political connections, along with his followers.
Everyone understood what Han Yonghwan meant.
“Our goal is to recruit HunterNotDoing Hunter into the Wish Guild. However, even if that proves impossible, we must cooperate with HunterNotDoing Hunter as much as we can.”
It was because they wanted their help.
So that even one fewer person would become a victim!
“Five days ago, someone anonymously sold seven Rank 5 boxes to our guild. Considering the timing, that person was probably HunterNotDoing Hunter. We believe those boxes were rewards obtained after clearing the Rank 5 Gate that appeared in Building A.”
“I bought all seven boxes myself, and I had a good feeling about it, so I paid an extra ten million won.”
Han Dongju spoke with a cheerful smile.
“That means HunterNotDoing Hunter should have a favorable impression of us now. Good thing I gave them extra, right?”
Everyone nodded in agreement.
Han Yonghwan gave his instructions in a firm voice.
“HunterNotDoing Hunter has already secured eighty million won, so they may not make another move immediately. Even so, inspect and reinforce the department responsible for purchasing items. Whenever someone suspected of being HunterNotDoing Hunter appears, call the three of us immediately.”
Everyone in the conference room answered energetically.
“Yes!”
HunterNotDoing Hunter will be permitted to anonymously sell everything obtained from Gates, including monster materials, mana stones, and reward boxes.
The morning after the rankings were updated.
For once, the government that usually acted like a bunch of idiots made an official announcement containing some very welcome news.
Transactions with foreign guilds or foreigners were prohibited.
However, HunterNotDoing Hunter could trade without restriction with every domestic guild and every hunter holding Korean citizenship.
And that wasn’t all.
To encourage transactions involving HunterNotDoing Hunter, all such trades would be exempt from taxes—not only for HunterNotDoing Hunter, but also for the seller.
However, any hunter or guild conducting such a transaction was required to publicly disclose the transaction within twenty-four hours.
It was such wonderful news that I almost wanted to jump for joy.
But I didn’t immediately rush to a guild.
The conditions seemed almost too good, which made me slightly suspicious.
Besides, I wasn’t desperate for money right now, and too much of the world’s attention was focused on me.
I was confident I could shake off anyone following me.
But that sounded annoying.
More importantly, I had something much more urgent to deal with.
Resigning!
My first priority was escaping this miserable company that had treated me like a slave for three years!
Time passed.
Three weeks had gone by since I announced my intention to resign.
In other words—
Today was my final day at this damn company!
I thought I could finally leave this place forever.
But then—
“No.”
The reason my workplace had been so peaceful lately was because this person hadn’t shown his face even once.
The man whom both I and the other employees hated more than anyone else in the guild.
A man who could proudly claim the title of Worst Boss Number One.
Director Oh!
That bastard suddenly came to work and shouted—
“You’re not resigning!”
The only reason I didn’t immediately burn that man to ashes was because other employees were nearby.
If I used my power here, they might discover that I was a hunter.
“Like I already told the team leader, I announced my intention to resign three weeks ago. I recorded that conversation too. If you refuse to process my resignation, that’s illegal.”
“Even so!”
Director Oh screeched so loudly that his face turned red and purple with anger.
He looked exactly like a boiled octopus.
No.
