Chapter 3: Check-In Bro (1/2)
Chu Jinhan silently looked at her.
Almost subconsciously, he tightened his grip on the thing in his hand and quietly hid it behind his back, as though afraid Song Yunfei might see it.
He gave a slight nod, his expression returning to normal.
“Then I misunderstood. Sorry.”
Song Yunfei secretly let out a breath of relief.
She had finally managed to bluff her way through this.
Chu Jinhan was probably relieved too, right?
At least from now on, neither of them would need to keep coming up with excuses.
“Good that you understand. Hurry up and go to sleep! Don’t you still have work tomorrow?”
After saying that, Song Yunfei turned off the light again and lay down.
Then she shifted even closer toward the wall.
Chu Jinhan also sat down on the bed and secretly tucked the thing in his hand beneath the bedsheet.
To stop her from causing any more trouble, he obediently lay down on the bed and simply accompanied her to sleep.
Of course, the distance between the two of them was enormous.
Both of them stayed as far away from each other as possible.
The weather was far too hot.
Even with the fan blowing, sweat still kept appearing.
And because Song Yunfei had gotten so worked up earlier, she was now so hot that she could not fall asleep at all.
She wiped the sweat from her neck again and again.
The man beside her, on the other hand, did not move at all.
She could not tell whether he had actually fallen asleep or simply was not afraid of the heat.
She had no idea how much time passed before Song Yunfei finally drifted off in a daze.
But not long afterward, she woke with a start from a nightmare.
She dreamed that she confessed everything to Chu Jinhan.
Then Chu Jinhan successfully returned to Haishi…
And immediately turned around and sent her straight to prison.
The dream frightened her so badly that she shot upright in bed.
It was already daylight outside.
Sunlight streamed through the rusty iron window, filling the entire room with brightness.
The dense chirping of cicadas outside mixed with the spinning sound of the fan inside, creating an inexplicably irritating atmosphere.
Chu Jinhan was already gone.
Song Yunfei was the only person left in the rented apartment.
She saw two eggs on a plate sitting on the table, as well as porridge in the rice cooker.
Song Yunfei got out of bed, walked to the table, and served herself a bowl of porridge.
With the eggs, she ate two large bowls.
To be fair, in weather this hot, she really did not feel like moving.
But Song Yunfei could not stand the sweaty smell coming from the bed.
So despite the suffocating heat, she forced herself to wash the bedsheet and quilt cover.
However, just as she pulled the bedsheet off—
Something fell to the floor.
