Chapter 35
《Reward selected.》
《Granting Lunatic Special Reward.》
《Obtained Player Authority: 『Lunatic Map Chart』.》
Glenn chose the Lunatic Map Chart as his tenth Lunatic reward. Even without knowing the exact effects of this authority, he selected it because he had certain expectations.
'I might not know the Lunatic Map Chart well, but I know the regular Map Chart.'
The Map Chart is a system designed for user convenience, providing spatial information to the player. It covers everything from continents and nations on a large scale to fiefs, villages, buildings, and even the minimap showing the player’s immediate surroundings on a smaller scale. In an RPG, it’s an essential element—one that causes extreme discomfort if missing once you've grown accustomed to it.
Of course, for Seong Yo-han, who knew the world of Gray Eden as well as his own neighborhood, such an authority might not seem necessary. However, one specific feature—the Ally Location function—would be a massive help.
Ally Location allows the user to check the position of party members or companions with whom intimacy has reached a certain level. The greatest advantage of this function is being able to monitor their location and survival status no matter how far apart they are. For instance, he could track Tris at the Wordsworth fief or Saintess Luceria somewhere on the front lines in real-time. While it was a one-way information stream—meaning he couldn't hold conversations—its future utility was undeniable.
'And since it has "Lunatic" attached to it, they’ll surely add something more.'
Given that his and his party’s power were steadily increasing, Glenn prioritized versatility and convenience when choosing his reward. Turning his focus, he brought up the effects of the Lunatic Map Chart to confirm his new authority.
“Let’s see, why is this so long... wait?”
《Lunatic Map Chart》
《Effects》
『Footsteps of Bia』 – Receive the blessing of Bia, the goddess of travel and wandering, to obtain maps of every existing place in the world. However, map information is unavailable for places intentionally hidden or where Bia has not traveled.
『Bia’s Eye』 – You can view a minimap of the space you are currently in. The minimap briefly displays obstacles like walls and furniture, items, allies, and enemies.
『Lunatic Sight』 – Possess a special vision that pierces through space to confirm more detailed information.
“...As I thought.”
It definitely lived up to the name "Lunatic." While the first two effects were identical to a standard Map Chart, the "Lunatic Sight" provided brief information about individuals or monsters beyond simple friend-or-foe identification.
'Basically, it means I can tell what kind of enemies are nearby.'
Looking at the detailed description, it only provided a name, category, and a one-line explanation. But for someone as experienced as Glenn—practically "rotten water" in terms of game knowledge—that was enough to deduce almost everything. The Ally Location function was also fully integrated, allowing him to check additional info on his companions as well.
“Wait... this is insanely good?”
But that wasn't all.
『Occupation』 – Gain Occupation Points for spaces above a certain scale. Occupation Points range from 0 to 100 and increase as your understanding of the space grows.
『Occupied Territory』 – When the Occupation Points for a specific space reach 100, it becomes an 'Occupied Territory.' Within an 'Occupied Territory,' the authority holder gains a 15% increase to all stats during combat. Furthermore, when not in combat, the holder can teleport to any Occupied Territory from anywhere. – Cooldown: 60 hours.
The "Occupation" and "Occupied Territory" effects were unfamiliar but strikingly powerful.
“Wow...”
He felt pity for his past self for not picking this even after it appeared twice on the Lunatic reward list.
'System... you had a plan all along, didn't you?'
His gray eyes filled with joy. Glenn immediately tested several functions to verify his new authority. First was the minimap. With a light wish, a translucent window appeared in a corner of his vision.
《Reigle Manor》
Along with the title, a circle representing Glenn was placed inside a small room on the map. Not only did the translucent map show the manor's layout, but it also displayed the individuals moving within.
《Hans: Human / Friendly》
: A servant of the Reigle Manor.
《Maria: Human / Friendly》
: A servant of the Reigle Manor.
《Costas: Human / Friendly》
: A guard of the Reigle Manor.
Glenn gave a low whistle of admiration as he viewed the information of those moving nearby.
“Oho...”
Since his personal intimacy with them was low, there was no additional info, but the ability to identify names alone made this a potent weapon. Of course, the detection range for those behind walls or on different floors was significantly reduced. But was that enough to call it bad? Hardly.
'I'll have to test if it can detect enemies hiding their presence. If it can, that’s a total cheat.'
Next, Glenn opened the continental map to check the locations of allies like Tris and Saintess Luceria. Tris had returned from the Aubenu Fortress to the head of the house's office at the Wordsworth manor, while Saintess Luceria was moving from the southern front toward the central front. Notably, thanks to Lunatic Sight, he could briefly check their statuses.
《Luceria》
§ Fatigue
§ Exhaustion
'She must have overexerted herself.'
It seemed she had squeezed every drop of her holy power to heal the wounded and resurrect the dead while traveling the southern front. Even so, she would surely hide her fatigue behind her usual benevolent, bright smile to avoid worrying others.
“Sigh... she’s really working too hard.”
He thought her personality was quite exhausting, especially since she had actually gained the Fatigue debuff. Still, Roderick, the assisting bishop, would likely step in if things got truly dangerous, so there was no immediate cause for concern.
It felt novel and reassuring to be able to check on his companions from such a distance.
“Cardinal Grazia and big sister Tris seem to be fine as well.”
Other companions scattered across the Holy State, such as Tasha, Hockney, and Judith and Catherine from the Inquisition, also appeared to be doing well. Resolving to send letters later, Glenn checked the final effect of the Lunatic Map Chart.
“The Occupation function...”
While the other features were auxiliary—assisting in scouting or caring for allies—the Occupation function was quite significant. After all, his stats would increase by a whopping 15% when fighting in an Occupied Territory.
《Reigle Capital》
《Occupation Points: 75》
75 points was a high number, but lower than he expected.
'Is there something in this city I don’t know about?'
The Occupation Points were structured to increase as Glenn’s understanding of a space grew. Having explored every nook and cranny of the map back when he was Seong Yo-han, he had hoped it would be closer to 100.
He soon realized the reason: he had to personally verify the locations with Glenn Wordsworth's own eyes.
“So, remembering what I saw through a screen is different from seeing it with my own eyes.”
When he crossed to the opposite wing of the manor and looked down at the city streets from a window, the Occupation Points rose by 1. It seemed he didn't need to walk through every single alleyway, but rather just familiarize himself with the structure visually to some degree.
'I should be able to finish Reigle Capital in about half a day...'
He doubted he’d have to fight here again now that the 1st Legion was repelled, but the more teleportation locations he had, the more his range of activity would expand. Additionally, there were currently over ten locations where occupation was already complete. Among them, three were likely to be used frequently:
《Wordsworth Capital》
《Aubenu Fortress》
《Holy City Istirenne – Slums》
If the Reigle Capital were added to this list, Glenn would possess insane mobility, allowing him to traverse the northern and central fronts of the Holy State, as well as the capital, in an instant.
“...Should I unlock the southern front too?”
Of course, that wasn't in the plan. Having secured victory on the central front, there was no longer a need to remain strictly on the defensive.
'First priority is to move Falador Reigle and reclaim the central front.'
They had saved the Reigle capital, but because they had anticipated defeat, the damage to the Reigle territory was significant. However, with the 1st Legion of the Demon King’s army repelled, reclaiming the front lines up to the border should pose no problem.
