Chapter 9: Drunk (2/2)
Wang Yi began persuading Chu Jinhan once more: “Brother Chu, look at how young you are, and you have a solid educational background. Why nestle yourself in a tiny place like this? Why not head out to the big cities?”
Chu Jinhan merely stole a glance at Song Yunfei.
Why else? Naturally, it’s because Song Yunfei refuses to agree.
Song Yunfei laughed awkwardly to smooth things over: “Um, Brother Wang, do you have any water? I’m a bit thirsty.”
Wang Yi slapped his own forehead: “Look at me, forgetting all about it! Hold on, I’ll go grab some for you.”
As they spoke, Wang Yi’s wife emerged from the kitchen carrying dishes.
His wife was named Li Jiao, possessing pretty features and a voluptuous figure. They were elementary school classmates who later married through a blind date setup.
“Little Brother Chu, Sister Song, you’re here!”
Li Jiao greeted the two with a smile, her gaze lingering on Chu Jinhan’s face for an extra couple of seconds.
She wore a tight-fitting T-shirt, and as Song Yunfei stared at her impressive chest, she couldn't help stealing a few extra glances herself.
This woman really has an incredible figure.
Chu Jinhan merely gave an indifferent nod without looking at her.
Song Yunfei said with a bright smile: “The moment Brother Wang called us, we hurried right over. I’ve been craving your cooking for the longest time, Sister-in-law.”
Li Jiao giggled cheerfully: “Then you two should drop by often! We’ve been neighbors for so long—don't treat me and your Brother Wang like strangers.”
Wang Yi walked back over and chimed in: “Exactly, don't stand on ceremony. When I leave for Hai City, she’ll be living here alone, so she’ll be relying on you young couple for a bit of help.”
Song Yunfei picked up the conversation smoothly: “Don't worry, Brother Wang! Whenever Sister-in-law needs a hand with anything, just feel free to come find us.”
The atmosphere at the dinner table was lively and cheerful. Wang Yi even brought out a bottle of Baijiu liquor and poured a glass for everyone.
His main goal was still to ask the two of them to look out for his wife; after all, a woman living alone wasn't entirely safe, and having neighbors to turn to during emergencies was crucial.
Song Yunfei naturally agreed with enthusiastic promises.
Chu Jinhan was a quiet man who rarely spoke, something Wang Yi and his wife had long grown accustomed to.
Li Jiao held up her liquor glass, addressing Song Yunfei: “Sister Song, let me toast to you! We might have to trouble you and Little Brother Chu quite a bit in the future.”
Song Yunfei was busy scarfing down the delicious dishes. Hearing this, she hurriedly put down her chopsticks and raised her glass.
Her mouth was still stuffed full of food—there was no helping it, the food was just too delicious.
Song Yunfei mumbled incoherently: “No trouble at all, it’s the least we can do!”
Gulping down the food in her mouth, Song Yunfei downed the entire glass of liquor in one go.
Immediately after, the burning sensation triggered a fit of violent coughing, nearly making her throw the alcohol back up.
This sent Wang Yi and his wife into fits of laughter. Li Jiao thoughtfully handed over a soft drink.
“Sister Song, you don't know how to drink alcohol? You’d better stick to soft drinks!”
Song Yunfei gave an embarrassed laugh, taking the soft drink and gulping down more than half the bottle in one breath.
Chu Jinhan had a high tolerance for alcohol. He drank several rounds with Wang Yi, leaving Wang Yi barely able to hold his liquor while Chu Jinhan remained completely unfazed.
After the meal, Chu Jinhan was the first to stand up and bid farewell.
Wang Yi tried to keep them a bit longer, but seeing Song Yunfei looking dizzy and lightheaded, he let Chu Jinhan take her back home.
Song Yunfei never expected this body’s alcohol tolerance to be so terrible—a single small glass had made the entire world spin around her.
