Chapter 10: Song Yunfei, Are You Having an Affair? (1/2)

The next day, Song Yunfei was awakened by her alarm clock, her head throbbing with a split-second intensity so sharp it felt like it was going to burst.

She had no idea how high the alcohol proof was in that liquor last night for the hangover to hit this hard.

Massaging her temples, she sat up—only to feel something slide right down her chest.

Looking down, she realized it was a bath towel. And underneath the towel, she was... completely stark naked.

“!!”

In an instant, all lingering sleepiness vanished into thin air.

The subtle clinking of pots and pans wafted over from the direction of the kitchen. Song Yunfei stiffly raised her head, staring wide-eyed toward the kitchen door.

Fragmented memories flooded back into her brain piece by piece.

Drinking alcohol, coming back home, and the bathroom...

She remembered now—she had taken a shower!

She vaguely recalled her feet slipping before taking a hard fall on the floor, but everything after that was a total blank.

She rubbed her head, and sure enough, a dull, localized pain throbbed at the back of her skull where she must have taken the hit.

So... how on earth did I end up in bed?

Song Yunfei didn't even dare let her imagination run wild.

Thinking about how utterly pathetic she must have looked—and worse, that Chu Jinhan might misunderstand her, thinking she had deliberately gotten drunk just to seduce him...

She felt like hanging herself.

Who knew, maybe hanging herself would let her transmigrate back to her original world?

Song Yunfei scanned the room, letting out a heavy sigh.

Forget it, transmigrating back would probably just turn me into a pile of ash anyway. A terrible life is still better than a good death.

Nimble as a cat, she scrambled out of bed, grabbed clothes to throw on at lightning speed, and dashed into the bathroom to splash cold water on her face.

Raising her head, she stared at her reflection in the mirror.

Her hair resembled a puffed-up bundle of dried corn silk perched atop her head. Combined with her miserable, mournful face, she looked hopelessly ugly.

Just as her mind was in total disarray, a faint rustle sounded from outside.

Song Yunfei lingered inside for another couple of minutes. Taking a deep breath, she forced her agitated heart to settle down.

Pretending to remember nothing, she casually stepped out of the bathroom.

Chu Jinhan was currently setting up plates at the dining table. He wore a simple white T-shirt that exposed his lean, muscular forearms, looking no different from usual.

Hearing the noise, he raised his eyes and stole a glance at Song Yunfei.

With an indifferent expression, he withdrew his gaze and said, “Now that you’re up, come eat breakfast.”

With that, he turned back and re-entered the kitchen, looking completely unfazed as if nothing out of the ordinary had ever transpired.

Song Yunfei dragged her feet over to the dining table and sat down. On the table rested fried eggs, toast, and two glasses of milk.

As her stomach let out a loud rumble, she threw all lingering embarrassment about last night to the wind, picked up her chopsticks, and dug in.

Chu Jinhan stepped out of the kitchen, placing a glass of water down right beside her.

With a fried egg clamped between her teeth, Song Yunfei looked up at him in confusion. “What’s this?”

“Honey water.”

His serene, unfazed attitude almost made Song Yunfei believe that everything from last night was nothing more than her own wild dream.

She carefully raised the glass with both hands, taking two small sips against her lips.

Through the corner of her eye, she secretly observed his reaction.

He was merely focused on eating his breakfast with a normal, unbothered expression, treating her as if she were nothing more than an unfamiliar roommate.

Unable to keep it bottled up any longer, Song Yunfei set the glass down and asked in a low voice: “Um... Chu Jinhan, I didn't do anything... weird last night, did I?”

Chu Jinhan’s movements paused mid-air.

Afterward, he set his chopsticks down, pulled a tissue from the tabletop dispenser, and wiped his mouth.

A two-second silence hung in the air before he spoke up: “Which incident are you referring to?”

“!!?”

Song Yunfei’s eyes widened to the size of saucers. “You mean there was more than one?!”

Chu Jinhan raised his eyes, his dark gaze locking straight onto her nervous little face.

“Why are you so nervous?”

Song Yunfei blinked in confusion. “What?”

Chu Jinhan said flatly: “Aren't we a couple? What exactly are you nervous about?”

His words left Song Yunfei completely speechless.

Yeah, what on earth am I so nervous about?

The original host had been desperate to sleep with Chu Jinhan all along. Even if something had actually happened last night, her natural reaction should have been pure, unadulterated joy.
